Removing Barriers to
getting on your bike
The Cycle of life will provide the catalyst for change, encouraging diverse communities to choose cycling by removing the barriers preventing them from cycling. We will empower individuals, build capacity within the communities where cycling traditionally was not common and was never seen as a viable option to more established modes of transport.
About us
Cycle of life is a community-centred approach to active travel that involves training local instructors and mechanics at the cycle hub. A consortium of multi-agencies, including schools, police, NHS, and businesses, also came together to collaborate and create an active travel utopia. This collaborative effort is aimed at reducing barriers to active travel, as well as creating safer school streets, cycle lanes, and other infrastructure
NHS Support
We offer a high range of services to support NHS and Key workers. Since the first lockdown in March 2020, we have been providing cycles to NHS/Key workers and designated individuals in need to enable them to commute to work safely and economically. We have provided over 150 bikes to date and also provided cycle training and maintenance courses to build confidence and independence.

CARGO BIKE FOOD DELIVERY
The OnTheGo project empowers disadvantaged young people aged 14-25 to start a business on a bike.
The project provides a viable alternative to make money legally, build on existing skills and bridge the gap to the legal world of business.
The 12-week program provides each young person with a cargo bike, products to sell, skills training, software support, mentoring, and pathways to a positive destination. It also introduces social action and networking opportunities and encourages proposals for city leadership to improve infrastructure for cargo bikes.
Bike ABILITY
Bikeability is a key component of Gear Change. Bikeability cycle training is a practical training programme, which provides schoolchildren with a life skill and enables them to cycle confidently and competently on today’s roads. Cycle of Life is a registered Bikeability Centre with qualified instructors over seen by Bikeability Trust: bikeability.org.uk Cycle of Life aims to widen participation in Bikeability to ensure that it is accessible to all and no one is left behind
